In some sections of Indian society there is great poverty among women. Local people, especially women, have been excluded from government initiatives and programs because they have not been implemented accurately. Women have not actively participated due to lack of literacy. The problem can be addressed by raising the status of women.
Nest Foundation has started offering sewing training programs to empower women. The main objective is to improve the quality of life of teenage girls and women by enhancing their skills and knowledge. These adolescent girls drop out of school to get married due to poverty. To help them, Nest Foundation has established a sewing education centre in the urban area. A fully equipped laboratory has been set up there to train girls and women to sew and make clothes, with the training conducted by a qualified professional.
Those who successfully complete the course receive a certificate. These courses enable the women to earn their own money, which makes them confident, happy and financially independent. After completing the six months of training, some women/girls are able to open their own boutique.
Nest Foundation serves all people regardless of religion, caste, race, ethnicity or gender.
